Well, we are well into the Ravelympics (Ravelry Olympic Knitting for those of you non-knitters). I have finished one project for WIPs Wrestling, but I can’t show it to you here on the blog yet as it is a gift. Soon.

Anyway - that is the Wrapigan - I am over halfway across the back. So woohoo.

And I haven’t shown you Babette in awhile, I am not working on it at the moment, but here is what we have so far.

This yarn was part of my spinning for the Tour de Fleece - there is still one more to come!

Roving: Falkland in colorway Eep Ork from Funky Carolina
WPI: 10
Yardage: 212.5

The colors on this are fantastic and I really enjoyed spinning it up!

Awhile back I decided I would knit a shawl for each of my good girlfriends as they got married. Little did I know that would mean three this year alone, but they are absolutely worth it!

Pattern: Lacey Shawl by Plymouth Design Company (Ravelry Link)
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk - 3.5 balls
Needle: Knitpicks Harmony 9
Mods: Emily is very tall and very thin, so I actually dropped one set of repeats across to make this not swallow her. She looks gorgeous in it!

I gave Emily her present that morning when she was getting her hair done - and I was surprised and honored that she wore it to the reception. I had hoped she would love the shawl, I had hoped it would remind her of her wedding and her dress, but her reaction to it was more than I hoped for and as I sit here I am getting a little teary eyed.

Isn’t she just lovely!!!

And because I just can’t resist - Danielle in her pink sweater I knit her, their mom and Emily. If I could pick a family, it would be theirs. I love and adore these ladies and I am lucky to have been included in such a special event.

Danielle told me that Emily and her new hubby, Dave, wanted to entertain more and they have a cute little patio in the new place with an outdoor table set.

Pattern: Raffia Table Mats from Simple Crochet by Erica Knit
Yarn: Plymouth Raffina
Crochet hook: H and F
Notes: I adapted the pattern for a set of coasters and a table center piece for them instead of table mats.

No - it isn’t actually my birthday - it is still months away, but some Ravelry Helpers did a Birthday swap and I was lucky enough to have gotten the amazing LittleWit as my pal!
This here? Jaggerspun! Zephyr!! In Lady Slipper!!
She also made some really cool things for me!!
DPN holders!
And a Sheepy notions bag!!
There was even a pirate ship model which I plan to paint pink!
Oh - then there is the Araucania Nature Wool Multy - which is gorgeous!240 yards of worsted weight 100% wool!
This stuff is squishy!
Thank you so much Erin!!!! *hugs*

I decided this year that I would do the Tour de Fleece again - I had a lot of fun last year and I learned a lot about my spinning, even though last year I only did 15 minutes a day.
This year I did a little more - and here is the first of the finished skeins - there are 2 more to keep your eye out for!
Roving: Gale’s Art purchased at The Loopy Ewe
Colorway: Cherry Blossom
Content: BFL
Weight: 4 oz
WPI: 14
Yardage: 244
This colorway was a little more orange than I thought from the online pic, however it spun beautifully and I love the way it looks now that it is spun and plyed! I also have a thing for cherry blossoms, so I had faith that this would work out in the end!
I will definitely be getting more of this roving in the future!!!

but I was tagged by KnitSteph and to be honest, I was feeling a bit slack since I had WIPs to share today, but due to a 13.5 hour work day and then needing to get some school work done, well, pictures didn’t happen today. So instead…
The Rules: Rules are posted at the beginning. At the end of the post, the player tags 5 people and posts their names. Then the player goes to each of the “named” people’s blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. If you’ve been tagged, you do the same, letting the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer. They, in turn, answer the following questions. Here we go!
1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
10 years ago I was a year out of college and was married to a man who it wouldn’t work out with despite all efforts. I was working as the manager of a movie theater.
2. What are 5 things on my to-do list today?
Only 5??
Work
School response
knit
Chiro appt
feed the cats
3. Snacks I enjoy:
I am not a big snacker. I don’t keep traditional snack food in the house so when I think of snacks I think of things like fiber one bars and yogurt - both of which I had today. I am fond of chocolate milkshakes, cookies and chocolate, but I don’t have them often with the weight loss - but I will profess a love for the 100 cal packs of Oreos.
4. Places I’ve lived:
I have lived all over…ready? Cocoa Beach, FL, St. Louis, CT, Wilmington, NC, Orlando and currently Charlotte, NC with a planned move to Kansas City soon…ish.
5. Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
knit, crochet, spin. I would buy all the stuff I want for those things and not worry about it. I would probably like to still work or do charity work since I get bored easily, but I would mostly knit. Tattoo Boyfriend would like to retire on a boat in the ocean (I have a little motion sickness issue, but I guess we will have to get over that) so I guess we would buy the boat and retire early. Oh and we would buy some itty bitty lifevests for the pugs and kitties. Or - I would buy an island. I would love an island of all my own as long as there was interwebs and delivered groceries and someone to make the margaritas (on the rocks, no salt please).
Uh - I won’t be tagging anyone. sorry. I don’t usually do these and I am not going to pass it on…

So I went on a little trip to Maryland and while I was there I picked up some fiber from a little farm in NC. Cloverleaf Farms is not too far from here, but I went to MDS&W to get some of their roving. And I didn’t realize it until I was home
Colorway: Sandstone
Content: 50% merino/50% tussah silk
Weight: 4 oz
WPI: 11
Yardage: 220.7
This was really a joy to spin and I would totally spin another colorway in this same mix from this same vendor!

And I am sorry about that, but I have been a little crazy with the new job kicking into high gear, my MBA program, and I went to CA for the wedding of a good friend. Really more family than friends.
So, I have a lot of knitting FOs to show you - 6 or 7 new things are done and I will be showing over the next few weeks AND I finished the Tour de Fleece with 16 oz of fiber spun - so I have 4 skeins of handspun, plus the skein I finished off the night before the Tour started so that I could start fresh! All that is coming.
But right now, I would just like to share just how much I love and adore my sister of the heart, Danielle. I love her so much and I can’t wait for her wedding in December - her sister got married last weekend out in Santa Ana and it was a beautiful ceremony. I ran the music.
Last summer I knit Danielle a pinwheel sweater - and she wore it to the wedding because it matched her dress. I was so touched that she wears this sweater all the time and I love to knit for her since she appreciates it so much!
Between her sweater, my Sursa (which didn’t match, but who cares), my new hat and Emily’s shawl (coming I promise!) - it was less Emily’s wedding and more a parade of Aimee’s kntwear. I have never had so many people come over to me and compliment my knitting in one sitting. I almost cried tears of joy.
Coming home was bittersweet - and harder than I thought. The weather there was beautiful. I met some amazing new friends (that up there is Amanda and she is the Matron of Honor in D’s wedding - so I get more Amanda time this year!). I had a fantastic time. I missed my cats, and I was ready to sleep in my bed, but leaving people you are so in tune with is always hard. And I miss them terribly.
Thank you, Danielle, for having me in your home and in your heart!

I participated in a Birthday Swap with some of the other Ravelry Helpers and I got somebunnyslove! She happens to be my birthday twin, so I was thrilled. So, I made her several items, here is one:

Pattern: Amigurami Bunny (Ravelry Link)
Hook: G
Yarn: Galway Highland Heather in Gray and Cascade 220 leftovers in pink
Notes: This was my first amigurami and one of my first crochet projects and it was super easy to follow! And I made this out of stash yarn (and that is all of that pink I had, so it all got used!)!

Next FO up - an item I made her from my handspun!
